Lucas Herbert Seals Commanding Victory at International Series Japan

Lucas Herbert cruised to a commanding five-shot victory at the US$2 million International Series Japan presented by Moutai, closing with a seven-under 64 at Caledonian Golf Club in Chiba to finish 20-under and secure his maiden Asian Tour and International Series title.

The 29-year-old Australian delivered a second consecutive eagle on the par-five 18th, capping off a weekend surge that saw him overturn a five-shot deficit late in round three. His 64 on Sunday included seven birdies and two bogeys, sealing a wire-to-wire win and elevating him to the top of both the Asian Tour Order of Merit and International Series Rankings.

Japan’s Yuta Sugiura and Korea’s Younghan Song tied for second at 15-under, while American Cameron Tringale (14-under) and Thailand’s Atiruj Winaicharoenchai and Japan’s Shunya Takeyasu rounded out the top six.

Herbert, who claimed his last international victory in Japan at the 2023 ISPS Handa Championship, credited a second-hand putter found in a Korean thrift shop and a new Titleist driver for his strong form. Now fifth in the LIV Golf standings, he’s riding a wave of momentum heading into the heart of the season
