Cristiano Pozzi, native of Cuomo in northern Italy and Head Chef of La Cucina, is rapidly building a reputation in Italian food circles as a chef with a delicate sense of balance, mixing the authentic with the experimental. Formerly a chef at Officina di Enrico in Omotesando and Giorgio Armani in Ginza, Pozzi has decidedly come into his own as he studiously oversees a talented young team in the creation of full bodied pastas, pizzas, risottos and La Cucina’s signature carne main dishes.

The self-service salad buffet offers seasonal greens, cured meats, cheeses and Italian delicacies such as soaked olives and sun-dried tomatoes.
In the kitchen, pizzas are cooked fast in La Cucina’s clay oven, thin and crispy with fresh toppings and generous amounts of mozzarella. The chefs work with skill and a trained eye to navigate the oven’s hot spots, producing as fine a pizza as you could find even in Milano.

La Cucina's Japanese Beef

The mark of any fine Italian eatery is a hearty Bolognese, and La Cucina’s was in every way a mark of something spe- cial, a generous portion with a home-style ragout highlight- ing all that is best in Japanese beef. This was followed by the best lamb chops I have had in Japan did. I am a fan of New Zealand lamb, especially when seasoned to perfection as this was.
And if you, like me, hear the dessert table calling, a selection of tempting sweets awaits at La Cucina. I recommend the Tiramisu, light and full flavored, together with a Cappuccino.
If your lucky enough to be visiting La Cucina, I recom- mend a window seat, with a fully open kitchen and a panoramic view in the direction of Mt. Fuji, you will be hard pressed to find a more delightful or, at 4,000 yen including a lovely Spumante, a more affordable culinary treat in Tokyo.
