The GT Fairway Metals bring a fresh perspective to the fairway wood category, combining cutting-edge materials and thoughtful engineering. Designed with the goal of maximizing distance and forgiveness, these clubs aim to address the needs of both professional players and everyday golfers seeking consistent performance.

At the core of this innovation is the shift away from traditional all-metal construction. Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Metalwood Product Development at Titleist Golf Club R&D, explains the rationale behind this evolution:

“To push the limits of ball speed and forgiveness, we had to explore materials beyond titanium for the crown. A lighter material allowed us to reallocate weight within the head, resulting in a center-of-gravity design that was simply unattainable with previous constructions.”

This departure led to the development of the "Seamless Thermoform Crown," a polymer-based component that blends lightness with structural integrity. By reducing weight in the crown, the engineers could lower the center of gravity, delivering higher launch angles and optimized spin. This is particularly evident in the mid-loft models (13.5°, 15°, and 16.5°), where distance and ease of use off the tee are prioritized. Meanwhile, higher-loft models (18° and 21°) retain the traditional all-metal body for better control on approach shots.

Design Approach

While the technical advancements are noteworthy, Titleist hasn’t lost sight of the elements that players value most: sound, feel, and aesthetics. These attributes—honed over years of feedback from tour professionals—are preserved in the GT Fairway Metals. The club's polished design and satisfying acoustics make it as enjoyable to use as it is effective.

The performance gains are not limited to trajectory. A face made from highly elastic forged 465 stainless steel enables faster ball speeds, even on off-center hits. Striking lower on the face—a common issue for many golfers—results in less spin without sacrificing speed, making the GT Fairway Metals forgiving across a range of player abilities.
